OUR HISTORY IN BRIEF

In 1941, while Europe was in the midst of war, two courageous men took a bold step: Willy Wyss and his brother-in-law Ariste Joray founded their namesake company in Malleray.

After a few years of operation and the hiring of the first employees, the premises in Bévilard soon proved too small and outdated. The two partners then built a new workshop in Malleray, close to the CFF train station, which they moved into in 1949. Business continued to grow, and the company’s facilities were expanded in 1958, while staffing reached its peak in the 1960s and 1970s with 25 employees. The automation of part of the production, which began in 1967, later led to a reduction in staff. At the beginning of the 1990s, the company still employed 15 people, including the owners and their spouses. In 1973, the family business was transformed into a public limited company (SA). In 1982, the founders handed over the reins to Rémy Wyss and Claude Tschanz, respectively son and son-in-law, who managed the company until October 2005. In the 1990s, the production of watch wheels (finishing wheels, cutting wheels, and gear-cutting wheels) was aimed primarily at Swiss customers, with the exception of a few European clients, mainly in France and Germany. At the end of October 2005, the second-generation owners sold the company and transferred its management, while remaining employed by the new owners for a period of time in order to pass on their know-how. In January 2006, the company’s headquarters and entire production were moved to Moutier. At the beginning of May that same year, the company was sold again to its current owners, who relocated it in August 2006 to Delémont, where it is still based today, continuing the production of watch wheels and stamping tools. In 2014, the company inaugurated a brand-new production building

Since August 2006, Patrick Brandelet has served as Director, and Charles Raccordon as sole Administrator. The company is a member of the Swiss Chronometry Society as well as the Jura Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIJ). In 2008, it employed 35 people. By 2017, that number had risen to 60. In 2024, the workforce reached 137 employees..
