MECHANICS

Mechanics is both an ancient and a modern technical science.

Since the dawn of time, humans have sought the best solutions to achieve their goals. On the surface, it may appear to be the art of improvisation.

However, the mechanics at Joray-Wyss are far from improvised. They rely on specialized know-how in the manufacturing of precision tools—skills that are essential to producing the parts required by our clients.

The field of mechanics spans all industrial sectors and requires a high level of adaptability to meet the evolving needs of production.

STAMPING AND PIERCING

Stamping relies on highly precise tools that allow a blank to be cut from a strip of laminated material without deforming it. Using a stamping die, one can cut a solid wheel, a spoked wheel, or create an opening that will serve to adjust a function within the watch movement.

The tool consists of an assembly of different components that slide relative to one another. The difficulty lies in finding the right balance: too much clearance causes off-centering or burrs, while too little clearance results in deformation or internal stresses in the material. Given the dimensions involved, watchmaking is undeniably a highly demanding craft
